If you are a Case student, a community member, or a web fan, welcome! My name is Rae and I am so excited to bring a show dedicated to all things Jam Band to WRUW 91.1FM!

On Jam Bands Thank You Ma’am, you will hear classic jam bands from The Grateful Dead and Phish, to modern acts like Umphrey’s McGee and The Disco Biscuits, and everything in between! Jam bands value creative improvisation over strictly structured sets and feature extended jams in their performances. Some bands embrace the label, while others prefer to be known as ‘bands that jam.’ Either way you’re in for a great show!

Jam bands have risen in popularity since the 90’s with Phish’s inheritance of The Grateful Dead’s dedicated fan base, and the label has grown to encompass many genres. You will hear influences from rock, blues rock, folk rock, country rock, bluegrass, jazz fusion, psychedelic rock, and newgrass sounds.

Each show kicks off with a set or song by the Grateful Dead and continues with both new and well-loved acts. Emails from jam fans and phans alike are welcomed, and unique stories from concerts and festivals have a chance to be shared on air. Fans are connected with festival information, concert updates, and album and band reviews. Its Jam Bands Thank You Ma’am!
